- Do have eye exams regularly.
- Do give up smoking.
- Do reduce sugary foods/drinks and refined carbo-hydrates that increase the risk for cataracts and macular degeneration.
- Do not eat packaged, processed foods.
- Do not eat fat free foods as they contain artificial fats.
- Do wear sunglasses, if possible with an amber, brown, or orange tint that blocks blue light.
- Do eat lots of dark green leafy vegetables (kale, spinach, and collards) as they contain lutein.
- Do eat lots of foods rich in vitamin C.
- Do eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids (fatty fish, fish oil, flaxseeds, and some nuts) as it reduces inflammation.
- Do check your blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels and keep them normal.
- Do exercise regularly and keep your weight down.
